The mental health literacy portfolio at the Center of Excellence is rooted in the belief that having more people understand mental health and identify signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, will result in decreasing stigma and increasing the likelihood that people will seek out needed help. Mental health literacy can be expanded not just among health care professionals, but across child-serving agencies and settings and among the general public. The Center of Excellence contributes to increasing awareness of mental health literacy through training, development of tailored curriculum and handouts, and technical assistance.
